Is there parking available at the Kirk House?

There is plenty of off street parking. Many of our guests leave their cars parked in our parking lot and walk to town for shopping and dining.

  

Can I drop my bags off if I arrive before the 3:00 pm check-in time?

 

Yes, you are welcome to drop your things off with us and we will provide a safe place to store them until your room is ready for you to check in. We can also hold your bags on check out day until you are ready to leave the island.

Are there restaurants within walking distance?

 

Yes, there are many restaurants nearby.

 Do you have bike racks available?

 

Yes, we have bike racks for our guests.

 Are you within walking distance from the ferry landing?

 

We are five blocks from the ferry.

 What ferry do I take, how much does the ferry cost, can I get a reservation and how early do I need to arrive for a specific sailing?

 

  • You need to take a ferry that goes to Friday Harbor. There are some departures that have intermediate stops at other islands and some that are nonstop. You should check and double-check to make sure the ferry you want actually goes from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Up-to date schedules are posted on the Washington State ferry website at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/.
  • The ferry fares vary depending on many factors, so you should check for current information on the Washington State ferry website at http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/. ALL FERRY FARES ARE ROUND TRIP, so you only need to pay once in Anacortes.
  • At this time, it is not possible to make a ferry reservation.
  • As for wait times, etc. we suggest you also get this up-to-date information from the ferry website. 

 Can we rent bicycles or kayaks from you?

We do not have bicycles or kayaks for rent but you can rent a bicycle by contacting Island Bicycles at 360-378-4941 or at www.islandbicycles.com. Kayaks can be rented from several places on the island. Go to our links page to find the right one for you.

  

We have more than 2 people in our party. Can you accommodate us in one room?

 

We are not able to accommodate more than two people per room.

  

We have small children. Can you accommodate them?

 

Our rooms are not suitable for children under the age of ten.

 Do you have gift certificates available?

 

We have gift certificates available in $50 increments.

 I'm bringing my spouse to the Kirk House for our anniversary. Can you make it special for us?

 

We can do any number of things to make your visit special; cakes, chocolate dipped strawberries, flowers, champagne, etc. Just let us know what you want and what your budget is and we will customize something for you.

  

Are there hair dryers in the rooms?

 

Each room is equipped with a blow dryer.

  

Is there an iron and ironing board available for us to use during our stay?

 

We do have an iron and ironing board on site. Just ask us and we will make it available to you.

  

Can I bring my cat or dog to stay with us?

 

Although we love pets, our facility is not equipped to handle pets of any kind. Boarding of pets may be possible at kennels located nearby. Ask us for contact information when reserving.

 Does the Kirk House have a water view?

 

We do not have a water view (nor the traffic or noise when the ferry comes in) but are a short walk from the harbor.

I have some special dietary needs. Can I use the kitchen during my stay?

 

Due to San Juan County Health Department regulations, use of the kitchen by guests for food preparation is strictly prohibited.

  

What credit cards do you take?

 

We take Visa and Master Card. We also take checks, traveler’s checks and cash.

 Do you have a hot tub on the property?

 

We do not have a hot tub. There is a Jacuzzi tub in the Trellis room.

  

We are thinking about holding our family reunion next year on San Juan Island. Can we rent the whole house?

 

The whole house can be rented for family reunions and other functions. Call us to discuss your needs and for price.

 We have to leave early to catch an early ferry. Can we still get breakfast?

 

For those catching an early ferry or kayaking with the dawn, we offer breakfast on the go. This consists of yogurt, fruit and our award winning granola in addition to some sort of baked good.  Simply inform us by 5:00 the evening before and your breakfast will be packed and waiting for you in the guest refrigerator.

 Do you have wireless internet access?

 

We are equipped with wireless internet access.  You must have a wireless card in your lap top to access it. You should be able to start up your computer and it will find the signal. We do not have the ability to provide technical assistance in setting up your computer for wireless access.

 I'm traveling with friends. Is there a common area where we can visit?

 

Our guests can socialize in our lovely parlor, on our veranda or in one of the garden areas.

  

We’re flying into Seattle and don’t want to rent a car. How can we get to Friday Harbor?

 

You have several options:

M&W Auto Sales (www.interisland.net/mandw ) has rental cars in Friday Harbor for the day, week or month. They can be reached at 1-800-323-6037. Susie’s Mopeds (susiesmopeds.com) has Mopeds and Scoot cars for rent. They can be reached at 800-532-0087. It is advisable to contact them before you arrive on the island to make arrangements for a rental.
